Hammond Power Solutions Closes $365M AEG Power Solutions Deal
Hammond Power Solutions has finalized its acquisition of AEG Power Solutions for roughly CAD $365 million after clearing all regulatory hurdles.
Hammond Power Solutions Inc., the Ontario-based transformer and power quality manufacturer traded on the Toronto Stock Exchange under the ticker HPS.A, has officially closed its acquisition of AEG Power Solutions for approximately CAD $365 million. The deal, which had been previously disclosed to investors, received all necessary regulatory approvals before closing on June 29, 2026.
The transaction represents a significant consolidation move in the industrial power sector, where demand for reliable power conversion and conditioning equipment has been climbing alongside the build-out of data centers, renewable energy infrastructure, and electrified manufacturing. AEG Power Solutions brings with it a European heritage in mission-critical power systems, a portfolio that would complement Hammond's existing strengths in engineered magnetic solutions across North America.

For Hammond Power Solutions, a deal of this scale — roughly a third of a billion Canadian dollars — signals an ambition to compete more aggressively on an international stage. Acquiring an established European-rooted player like AEGPS can accelerate geographic diversification in ways that organic growth alone would struggle to match, particularly given the capital intensity and regulatory complexity of entering new markets from scratch.
Investors will now be watching how HPS integrates the AEGPS operations, manages any currency and cross-border complexities, and whether the combined entity can extract the synergies that typically justify a premium acquisition price. The completion of regulatory clearance removes one of the key risk overhangs that had been present since the deal was first announced.
